We know we didn't get it right for everyone, but Saturday's event has us feeling that we have the best set of supporters and visitors we could wish for. Do use our web form. You've all helped give the Two Tunnels route a big boost, and in the process we've raised over £300 £400 for the charity Wateraid. But particular apologies to the volunteer who was abandoned on the entrance gate for far too long - you deserve better.
Helping the day succeed was the best set of volunteers we could wish for - some of which travelled a considerable distance - a big thankyou to everyone.
We were lucky enough to have an experienced 'Underground railway photographer' along for the day. You may have walked into his tripod on your way through - I know I did. Select the image for his record of the day, including underground photos. These finally show what a stunningly purposeful resource for Bath lies hidden in the darkness of Combe Down Tunnel. Update: additional images from Combe Down Tunnel now on the 'Forgotten Relics' web site
We heard a lot of stories from everyone during the day, but didn't get many of them down on paper. We'd really appreciate feedback, stories, etc. If you have anything that can help give the Two Tunnels route substance, please can you send it along using this web form.
We're well aware that it is painful for some to contemplate this line not being brought back into railway use. It sometimes helps to think of the words of the late John Betjeman:
'Where there have been trains,
there will be trains.'
