A new shared path for Bath and North East Somerset

High Summer at Tunnel Gulch ™: Saturday 17th July 2010

Huge thanks to the volunteers, to Wessex Water, to Sustrans, and indeed to the visitors who made the tunnel open day so enjoyable for many. An event which started the previous evening with an unpromising couple of hours digging a canal to remove 4 inches of water from inside the tunnel portal, warmed up very well on the day itself.

One group of supporters drove from Southampton via Bournemouth for the day to spend some time in the tunnel taking photos of the structure. They've kindly allowed us to put the resulting images on the 'Gallery' page.

The Bath Chronicle did us proud with advance publicity and now a good article. If you're moved to join in with the comments it would certainly help raise the profile even more - you'll need to register.

Also, BBC Points West covered the event with a good supportive piece - here's the video from the TV coverage.

Flickr has a brand new 'Two Tunnels Bath' group set up for you to post images from the day - and from the Two Tunnels route in history, or in construction. If you've good images and can join this and help it get into its stride, this will help with publicity. You'll also see them display in the badge at the top right of this page.

Donations

With your help we raised over £300 for Wateraid and over £600 for the Two Tunnels Project. Needless to say we appreciate this a lot.

Lost property

We found a pair of sunglasses. If the owner could get in touch using the address at the foot of the page and could describe the case to us, we'll arrange to return them. If you booked a party of people, please ask around the party as the visitor may not return to this site ...
